The Diamond Cut

Cut is the most important of the 4Cs because it determines how a diamond interacts with light. A masterfully cut diamond doesn’t just sparkle — it delivers fire, brilliance, and life.

At MG ESSENCE, we honour precision. An excellent cut reflects over 90% of entering light back to the viewer, creating that signature “MG Fire” effect your customers fall in love with.

The cut is not the shape — it’s the craftsmanship: the symmetry, proportions, angles, and polish. Even a flawless diamond can look dull if the cut is poor.

We evaluate three major light qualities: brilliance (white flashes), fire (rainbow dispersion), and scintillation (sparkle during movement).

Diamond Color

Diamond color refers to the presence of natural tint within the stone. The less color, the higher the value. MG ESSENCE primarily works with color grades ranging from D to H — where luxury and affordability meet effortlessly.

D–F diamonds are considered “colorless,” offering a pristine, icy brilliance. G–H diamonds fall into the “near colorless” range, offering extraordinary value with almost no visible warmth.

A balanced color grade enhances your ring’s metal choice. Cooler tones pair perfectly with white gold and platinum, while slightly warmer diamonds complement yellow and rose gold.

MG ESSENCE diamonds are hand-selected to avoid visible tints that would compromise a luxury appearance.

Lighting dramatically influences color perception — our diamonds are assessed under strict neutral conditions.

Diamond Clarity

Clarity evaluates internal inclusions and surface blemishes. To maintain luxury standards, MG ESSENCE selects diamonds that are “eye-clean,” meaning no imperfections are visible to the naked eye.

Our preferred clarity grades are VVS1 to SI1, depending on the design, budget, and brilliance needed.

VS diamonds are rare, elegant, and offer a perfect balance between beauty and value.

We reject diamonds with inclusions that compromise durability or light performance.

Diamond Carat

Carat measures weight, not size. A well-cut 1ct diamond can appear larger than a poorly cut 1.2ct diamond. This is why at MG ESSENCE, cut always comes first.

Carat weight determines presence — the visual impact when someone sees the ring across the room.

We focus on balanced proportions to give the diamond the maximum “face-up” appearance.

Pricing increases exponentially with size; a 2ct diamond isn’t double the price of a 1ct — it can be 4–6x more.

MG ESSENCE offers smart carat thresholds (0.8, 0.9, 1.1, 1.2) for clients wanting maximum value at every price point.
